Private and public African broadcasters as well as international industry players – including media and technology companies; academic institutions and industry trade and marketing bodies as well – are welcome to join APBF. There are five distinct categories of memberships on offer. These are as follows:

- The Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA) is a membership based organization representing public service and other broadcasting organizations across the 14 country member, Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. Launched in 1993, SABA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that has been set up to promote quality broadcasting by enhancing professionalism and the credibility of public service broadcasting across the countries of the region.
- The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), an independent, non-governmental umbrella association of all private, public, commercial and community electronic media houses in Nigeria, represents a broad coalition of public and private broadcasters, duly registered by The Republic of Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission. BON is the Republic of Nigeria’s umbrella Union of Terrestrial Radio, Television (TV), Direct-To-Home (DTH), Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) and Multimedia Distribution System (MMDS). It also serves Nigeria’s terrestrial free-to-air broadcasters as its rights acquisition body for the coverage of major national and international events.
