Gillian Rose is APBF’s Content Strategy and International Television Industry Relationships Adviser.
Gillian has a full time position as the Managing Director of PBS Distribution, a company owned jointly by PBS and WGBH Boston. Prior to this she was Head of Distribution for WNET, New York’s flagship PBS station, and also executive-in-charge of WNET’s lifestyle programming. She joined the Manhattan-based station in 2004. She has also worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, The Washington Post Company’s Newsweek Productions, Carlton Television and CNET Television as well as being a two-term Chair of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) New York and former Co-Chair of the International Emmy Awards Committee.
She started her career as a print journalist in her native London writing about the media. Ms Rose is also President and Founder of The Rosemary Pencil Foundation, a non-profit that supports girls’ education in Malawi and Zimbabwe through secondary school scholarships and teacher training initiatives. She is also involved in new media initiatives in Malawi as well as sitting on the Lilongwe-based Board of Directors of Children in the Wilderness. Ms. Rose holds a Master’s degree in Communication for Development.
